Destination Moon: The Apollo 11 Mission
Highlighting Saint Louis’s Role in the Space Race

“One Small Step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” These words were heard around the world nearly 50 years ago. Now visitors of the Saint Louis Science Center will be transported back in time to the 1960s by walking through an immersive St. Louis street scene and a typical home living room as they enter the new exhibit, Destination Moon. This immersive experience includes space-engineering themed environments, provides hands-on interactive installations packed with invaluable Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) learning opportunities.

Through collaboration with Saint Louis Science Center’s team, we developed and designed the entry and exit experiences to compliment the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibit Services (SITES) traveling exhibit tying the vital role of the Saint Louis community played in the important Apollo 11 mission. From our roots in theatrical design and environmental, digital, and tactile interactive installations the exhibit offers visitors a variety of hands-on experiences and learning opportunities related to space exploration.
